Thinking Out Loud {#2}

Hi friends! I’m excited that it’s Thursday because it’s time for a “Thinking Out Loud” post! Thinking-Out-Loud

  • I’m definitely a planner. Each Sunday, I sit down and plan our meals, my workouts, & general weekly activities. I absolutely love writing in my planner (I use it like a journal, documenting “S’s” milestones & exciting things she does). When I planned my runs for this week,  I planned 3 days (each with distances ranging from 3.1 – 3.5 miles). On Monday, I was feeling extra motivated (because I was using my Charity Miles app and earning money for St. Jude’s) and I ended up running 4 miles! I was slow and it was hot, but I did it.

  • I have really been enjoying making products using my essential oils. I’m slowly replacing my old products with these new & all-natural products. I had no idea how easy it would be to make them. They typically take me about 5 minutes to make. The 2 best things about making my own products is: I know exactly what ingredients are in them and I know that they are 100% safe for my family. I have to admit, at first I was worried that they wouldn’t work as well as other traditional products. I have been pleasantly surprised. Not only do they work well, but they work BETTER. I’m so glad I started this oil journey.
  • I enjoyed watching 2 episodes of The Bachelorette this week, but why oh why do I have to wait 2 weeks for the next episode. My first impression of Chad has proven to be true. Confession:  I always look up spoilers to see who gets picked at the end of the season. The past couple of spoilers have been correct.
  • Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. We started growing them in pots on our deck. Once they began doing well, we transplanted them in our yard. Today, I looked out at them and they are all gone! Something ate ALL of the plants. Ugh! Oh well, at least an animal had a good meal.

  • “S” loves popsicles. I’ve been making different combinations (while sneaking spinach in for a healthy bonus). She gobbles them up!

IMG_3810IMG_3811 I hope you have a great Thursday! ~K Do you currently use essential oils?  If so, what are your favorites?  If not, are you interested in them, but not sure where to begin? (I’d be happy to help). How do you sneak healthy foods into your child’s meals? (I need some new ideas.) Smile

Thinking Out Loud

Happy Thursday! My Thursday posts are going to be made up of just random thoughts in my head. I got this idea from Running With Spoons.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy all of my random thoughts for the day. Smile

Thought #1: I absolutely LOVE summertime and being outside. The part I don’t enjoy is lathering up my toddler with sunblock. It literally is a chasing game with the end result being me all sweaty with sunblock all over the furniture. I do love the giggles and chasing her around, but her sensitive skin worries me. “S”’s skin has been extremely sensitive lately & she’s battling bouts of eczema. Luckily, I have been able to keep it pretty controlled with one of the natural essential oil lotions I made (I’ll be posting the “recipe” in hopes to help other mothers and fathers out there that need some eczema relief for their little one. I’m just concerned that the chlorine and sunblock are going to agitate her skin much more this summer.

Thought #2: I really am enjoying my weekly runs. Prior to becoming pregnant, I was running twice a week. At first it was hard for me because I was never a runner. Once I built up my endurance, running was actually fun for me. Slowly, I stepped away from running (I stopped running in my 2nd trimester because it was so uncomfortable). I’m on week 5 of running regularly again, but this time, I’m aiming for 3 days a week. Now, I’m running with my little running buddy in our jogging stroller. She absolutely loves it! Each day it gets a little easier, but wow, running with a jogging stroller is a whole new ballgame. My current running mantra: “Slow and steady wins the race”.

Thought #3: Essential oils are amazing. I started using them months ago (you can read about how I got started here). When I first started using them, I pretty much just diffused them. Now, I’m incorporating them in almost every aspect of my life. In fact, the face wash I made is AMAZING. My skin has never looked better (bonus: it’s made with 100% all natural nontoxic products)!

Thought #4: My guilty pleasure: I’m hooked on this season of the Bachelorette. However, I always have to watch it on the dvr (there are too many commercials!). I think Jojo is adorable and she’s got some good bachelors to chose from. I know editing plays a major part in the show, but Chad comes off as a little crazy.

Thought #5: I needed to change up my weekly strength training workouts because I was getting bored, so I started incorporating 21 Day Fix workouts into my routine. I never thought a 1-minute interval was that difficult to perform, until I started doing these workouts.

Thought #6: If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my latest sandwich obsession. It’s a toasted (a little too much in this photo) flatbread, with fresh mozzarella cheese, spinach, tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette. SO GOOD (and under 400 calories)!

Thought #7: I’m so blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home mom. I always thought I’d be a working mom (because I loved teaching so much). Once I had “S”, that all changed. I wanted nothing more than to stay at home with her. I actually went back to work for a month and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. My heart would break (and I would cry every single day) when I took her to daycare. I am so fortunate that I was able to resign (aka “retire” Smile) so that I could stay at home with my baby. She is growing up so fast and changing every day. I’m truly blessed and very fortunate to be able to be home with her.

So those are my random thoughts on this beautiful Thursday. I hope you enjoyed reading them. Have a great day!
